Online Learning Institute: Engaging Youth in a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program

October 16, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

Register here by October 9

Description

A Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP) aims to enable students to achieve 60 minutes of daily physical activity. But, how often are youth engaged in shaping these opportunities? Youth can play an important role in creating a culture of school physical activity by acting as key decision makers.  Springboard to Active Schools and Health Resources in Action will lead participants through activities to explore youth engagement principles and how to apply them to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a CSPAP in a school.

Objectives

– Define youth engagement and key youth engagement principles.

– Explore ways to incorporate a consistent strategic youth development approach in current and future programming in K-12 schools.

– Apply levels of youth engagement to planning for a school’s Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP).
